The Shade Tree Story

Hello & Welcome to the Shade Tree, My name is Loretta and I am the owner of this good ol Bar. Please allow me to share a bit of her history with you.

I left the big city of Houston and moved to Lorena area in 2000. The Shade Tree quickly became my favorite hangout and in Nov. of 2005 I bought it. Since then “The party hasn’t stopped!”
I love live music so I built and outdoor stage and waitress station with plenty of seating so we can enjoy the outdoor concerts under the stars at night and shade of the shade trees during the day.
The Shade Tree has been here for over 40yrs. It was called Poor Boys and changed to Shade Tree about 20 yrs. ago. There is a lot of history here with the locals. If you hang out long enough you will learn something from the locals at their table of “KNOWLEDGE”.
The Shade Tree has had many changes over the years, add-ons and even a fire in 07 that allowed me to add a front porch that is enjoyed most evenings. There isn’t a straight wall in the place and watch your step, but all the imperfections add to its character.
We hold several annual events. In April we have a Crawfish/Shrimp boil with live music from 1pm-1am. In Oct. we have our S.T.A.B.B. Shade Tree Annual Benefit Bash. It begins on Friday and ends Sunday. Each year we pick a cause or needy family in the area and raise as much money as we can for them. The 3 days are filled with live local music and talent as well as cook offs and plenty of good food and cold beer.
All through the year we have local BB-Q cook-offs and a few showdowns between friends. The Dec / Jan Chili Cook-offs are always a huge event.
